Working my way through The Best American Short Stories 2005, I just finished Cory Doctorow’s Anda’s game, a story about girl power, morality, MMORPGs, and the global economy. It’s a loose riff on Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game and a great, cautionary but optimistic gem of a short story. I couldn’t help tearing-up a little at the end.

I highly recommend the print version of Best American Short Stories 2005, but you can read the story online at Salon (registration required) and Cory also has an audio version available for download on his site.
