Lichtenstein at the Henry

Roy Lichtenstein print detail
The Henry Art Gallery here in Seattle has a Roy Lichtenstein exhibition opening this Friday and I think I gotta go. Even though pop art has started to seem a little trite as the years go by, I still love Lichtenstein’s vibrant prints. I haven’t been to the Henry for a long time. I think the last show I saw there was Superflat and that was 4 years ago (for shame!!!)

You should make it for the opening reception. It is this Friday at 8. I will be there, maybe I will finally end up seeing you! ;-)

I saw this exhibit while I was in Seattle; I thought it was good.

While I’ve never been crazy about Lichtenstein, it’s always edifying to see one artist’s works grouped together. You learn so much more about what they’re trying to say through their painting. Some of the groupings were laugh-out-loud funny, like the progressively abstracted steer. I also liked the cathedrals and haystacks after Monet.
