Today’s Guardian has a beautifully written piece by J.G. Ballard reflecting on writing his amazing memoir Empire of the Sun and watching his childhood experiences in WWII-era China reenacted by Steven Spielberg and Christian Bale.

That book is one of my all time favorites and the movie is seriously underrated.
