Tintin and the Dalai Lama?
Here’s a neat, little story about the Dalai Lama presenting a Tibetan butter lamp to the Hergé Foundation.
Tintin, Captain Haddock, the Thompson Twins, and Professor Calculus hold special places in my childhood imagination and it’s nice to see Hergé get some press beyond the occasional griping about the racism in some of his earliest comics. While Hergé was sometimes too influenced by the late colonial era he was writing in, Tintin always filled me with a huge respect for and interest in far off places.
