The Arcade Fire
Wednesday night The Girl from Hickopolis, the librarian, and I caught Bell Orchestre, Wolf Parade, and The Arcade Fire at the Paramount. The performances were a joy to behold, even though we didn’t get to see Bell Orchestre due to my overwhelming need for a smoke and a cocktail. In any event, Wolf Parade were great and The Arcade Fire played the best set I’ve seen from any band in a long while. Their live show is gloriously messy, weird, and beautiful and if you’ve only heard their studio recordings, you owe it to yourself to see them live.
Unfortunately, the Paramount remains a terrible venue for rock shows. The Arcade Fire are not best enjoyed sitting contemplatively in a seat and I’m now kicking myself for not seeing them at a smaller, dance-friendly club.

It was a great show, but I’m pissed I didn’t see them when they were at the Showbox 6 months ago..the Paramount kinda sucks. Hey, if you haven’t seen it, don’t miss their performance on “Pancake Mountain”. It’s really fun:
