So, the word on Serenity is good. I really want this film to succeed and not just for the future viewing pleasure of nerdy fanboys and girls like me. I want it to succeed because genre films with great characters and heart are a rare thing.

I worry that the depth of character built in the Firefly tv series will get lost in the inevitable action set pieces and twisty plot of it’s big screen debut. Hopefully the uninitiated will be intrigued enough to seek out the tv show because it’s going to take a lot of casual viewers for the story to continue.

Serenity opens today. I hope you go see it.
