Please, just let me sleep

HeeelpI’ve always been an insomniac, but recently things have been really bad; So bad that I went to the sleep doctor and was scheduled for the dreaded Sleep Study (cue the spooky sounds and evil laughter.) My appointment is this evening and I’m expecting to be hooked up to electrodes and all manner of strange and uncomfortable medical accoutrements.

For reasons best left to another post, doctors make me nervous and I can’t imagine being able to sleep in any kind of lab environment, but I’ve been sleeping like shit and don’t see any reasonable justification for escape.

Wish me luck.

Update!
Well, that was weird. Yes, there were electrodes and a lot of strange hookups leading to serial port at the head of my postage stamp sized bed. Here’s hoping that the paltry 3 hours of sleep I got was enough for them to suss out my sleep apnea diagnosis.

I wonder if Charlie Kaufman had a sleep study before writing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I kept expecting Mark Ruffalo and Kirsten Dunst to run through my bedroom in their skivvies.

Joe, You never said a thing about this. I have taken Sue several times for this and although it is not home, I believe it is a very worthwhile test. Good luck and please keep us posted

Good luck, I want a full report! Bring your camera… I want to see that pic of you all hooked up to electrodes!

Thanks guys. Honestly, Bre…you have no idea how wrong it would have been to bring a camera into this situation. Yikes.

How did it go? Actually, if you guys want to know more about “sleep study” and what goes on during the test, click on this link: http://askthesleepexperts.com/ and Joe, I think you’ll find answers for your insomnia there, too!
