If you like brainy sci-fi, The Fountain will not disappoint. A beautiful, sad meditation on mortality, Darren Aronofsky’s film is the first true science fiction film I’ve seen since Solaris or Primer. In other words, it falls more into the realm of art than entertainment and uses the unknown to speak to real human concerns rather than relying on speed and special effects.

Update: Admittedly, I am in the minority. nevertheless…
