Grindhouse trailer

The trailer for Grindhouse, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s new b-movie extravaganza, looks great! I can’t wait to see Kurt Russel return to his John Carpenter roots and since Planet Terror is a zombie flick, how can I resist?

Brian K. Vaughan

How come nobody told me that Brian K. Vaughan (Runaways, Ex Machina, Lost, etc.) has a blog? More to the point, how come nobody has told him how screwed up his rss/atom feed is?

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

Bre tagged me with this many days ago. I’m a bad blogger. So, without further ado, here are five things you didn’t know about me:

I was an alto in the Northwest Boys Choir.
In olden days, I would have been burned as a witch. Personally, I have no problem with the term harelip.

Loony Gary Busey and John Cusack on Hunter S. Thompson

There’s a new documentary on Hunter S. Thompson in the works. The clip featured here has a characteristically enigmatic and loony Gary Busy and smart, reflective John Cusack talking about their friend and idol.

Sol Seppy

Sol Seppy’s The Bells of 1 2 is just beautiful. I haven’t had a crush on an album like this for too long. No comparisons do it justice.
Apparently, Sophie Michalitsianos is a frequent Sparklehorse collaborator, which makes me wonder what rock I’ve been sleeping under.
The CD is an import, but it’s also available […]

The Fountain

If you like brainy sci-fi, The Fountain will not disappoint. A beautiful, sad meditation on mortality, Darren Aronofsky’s film is the first true science fiction film I’ve seen since Solaris or Primer. In other words, it falls more into the realm of art than entertainment and uses the unknown to speak to real […]

It’s not TV, it’s Garth Ennis

HBO is producing an hourly drama based on Garth Ennis’s Preacher. I’m a big fan of the comic and can see the appeal, but man I’m almost afraid to watch the bloody freakshow that will ensue. Dammit, every time we start thinking of canceling HBO, they pull us back in.
SciFi Wire - Johnson […]
